About this property

Welcome to Art 57 Hotel

Art 57 Hotel is a colorful and relaxed property located in Barrio de Santiago, within Mérida's central district. It offers a quiet setting close to Plaza Grande, making it convenient for visitors interested in exploring nearby cultural highlights such as the colonial-era Catedral de San Ildefonso and Museo Casa Montejo. The hotel’s position is ideal for guests who want to be near the city’s main attractions while enjoying a peaceful retreat.

The hotel features air-conditioned rooms that are described as simple yet clean and functional, with some guests appreciating the bright, cheerful decor and comfortable amenities like good shower pressure and reliable Wi-Fi. Facilities include free breakfast, an outdoor pool, a terrace, and a cafe, although the pool's maintenance has received mixed feedback. Paid parking and an airport shuttle service are also available, but the property does not offer on-site dining or fitness center options.

Guest reviews commonly highlight the friendly and helpful staff, the quiet but convenient location, and the freshness of breakfast offerings. Although the hotel lacks luxury touches and some aspects such as the pool filtration system and parking arrangements have drawn criticism, it remains a good value choice for those prioritizing accessibility to Mérida’s cultural core and a budget-friendly stay.

Giving 4 stars because of the very nice staff, and the relatively low price point. The hotel is old, and can use renovation front to back. Don't expect any luxuries here. We rented the suite with the private pool. The pools were mostly unusable due to the fact that there is no filtration on either the private pool or main pool. A couple days after we arrived, the pool was skimmed with a net. That helped by not having the leaves and large bugs in the water. It would be helpful if a net was accessible by the guests. I would gladly skim it myself to make the pool usable. You are given 2 towels and a hand towel for each room. No wash cloths, no pool towels available. And they are on the older side. Pillows are iffy, wife needed a softer one, but none available. Breakfast is basically a plate of fruit, and toast. That's it. Luckily great breakfast spots nearby in all directions. The door to our room does not seal well. There are gaps all around the door for the mosquitoes to come in. And an open 1"X3" opening at the bottom of the door jamb. Not sure why that has never been fixed. Also the hand rails look like they would not hold with 20 pounds of pressure on them. And the deck Adirondack chair arm falls off easily. A good maintenance man would be helpful here until a full renovation was done. Wifi is very spotty here. Works sometimes.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, got us a cab at 5:30 in the morning, the hotel front desk is open 24/7, the breakfast was good, fruit was fresh. Our room was very roomy, located in the rear, very quiet, and service was good. The location was perfect for us, close enough to walk to central district, but far enough to be quiet. Not a fancy hotel but plenty nice enough and perfect for us. We would stay there again.

The great: Staff here are amazing…very friendly, warm, and accommodating. Location…very short walk to parks, shops, restaurants, and cafes…couldn’t ask for a better location in Centro! Wifi was great with smart TVs in rooms. The good: Breakfast was fresh and served quickly with wonderful service. Rooms I found to be very basic, but clean and fully functional. The shower was fantastic, great pressure and always hot water. Hotel grounds are clean and cute. Towels and bottled water refreshed daily. The bad: Hotel needs a refresh, but although it’s dated it’s very clean. The pools could use attention, especially the plunge pools in the upgraded suites (which is where I stayed). That said, I did enjoy the hammock chair over the plunge pools every afternoon for reading! Overall: for the price I’m not sure what the nay-sayers are expecting. If you want 5 star amenities book a 5 star hotel. But if you’re looking for a clean cozy spot with amazing service and a local vibe, then Art 57 fits the bill. I paid $1200CAD for the upgraded suite for a week and felt I got amazing value for the cost!

Pleasant place to stay. The location is good, close to a corner convenient store, and a couple restaurants. About a five minute walk to the Zócalo as well. Quiet, but not distant. Staff was always friendly and available if we were to have any issues. Room was cleaned and turned down daily, and the AC was sufficient. The hotel provided two water bottles a day but we found it helpful to go to an Akí and get a big bottle of water for the week, for brushing teeth, and drinking. The ambiance is pleasant. Being surrounded by live plants, with a small fish pond and little lizards running around was enjoyable. The pool was refilled every day. The pump itself did not seem to be running, but the water was still great for relaxing after a day in the Mérida heat. Breakfast was delicious and much more fresh than a “continental” breakfast in the US. The fruit was freshly cut (I could hear her preparing it while we munched on the toast) coffee was good, and it also included yogurt with granola. There was an option mentioned for cooked food for additional cost (I saw eggs in the kitchen) but we found the amount they served us was sufficient! Parking was the only thing that was an inconvenience but not enough to remove a star. It is an additional cost per night, and was close and private. A couple nights we needed to explain why we were parking there, as the hotel Paris staff rotated. Once they heard the Art or made a quick phone call, things were squared away.

Very nice hotel, instagramable colorful patio garden with pool. Good fulfilling breakfast with fruits plate, yogurt granola and toasts and coffee. I liked the quaintness of the room, pressure and hot shower. Clean and comfortable. Staff nice. I felt very happy there. Not expensive and very good value. Exceeded my expectations.

Nice and quaint hotel that met our needs in Merida. Just a ten minute or so walk to central area. My husband and I booked a room with a private pool (small plunge pool) which was perfect for a quick dip to cool off in the hot days. Very lovely greenery in the common areas. The room had a comfortable bed, nice working AC, Wi-Fi and the shower pressure was great in the bathroom. The breakfast was nice for us to start our day. It consisted of toast, yogurt and fresh fruit along with coffee and orange juice. Just a suggestion for the hotel, would have been great to have a coffee bar set up so guests could grab their own coffee. Especially for early risers like myself.

Absolutely lovely staff and location, highly recommend. The staff were friendly and so gracious. The air conditioning and private pool were fantastic. We loved coming back to the green gardens and trees. Unfortunately the taps/faucets in our room were “live” and shocked us when I hands were wet. We were always in a rush morning and night due to tours etc and didn’t get a chance to report it to the staff. Keep in mind that there are some creepy crawlies in Merida so shake out your linen before getting in and any clothes you have on the floor before putting them on!

My room was very comfortable and the hotel is convenient. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Price was definitely reasonable. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and delicious. I would certainly recommend this hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
